Study Permit Renewal

After the first application for student visa is approved, students need to apply for a study permit with their passports. Students must leave Canada before the expiration of the big visa, or apply for an extension. The study permit is used for students to stay legally in Canada. If the applicant’s student visa expires, even if the study permit is valid, the applicant is not allowed return to Canada after leaving the country.

Student Visa Renewal

For international students, the function of the study visa is an entry visa to return to Canada. Applicants holding study permits and work permits must submit temporary resident visa applications through CPC-Ottawa, which can be applied online or by mail.

PGWP

Each International student can obtain for PGWP only once, the validity of the PGWP will depend on the duration of the institution the international student graduated from.  Normally a one-year course will lead to a one-year validity of the PGWP, while duration of two-years or above will lead to a three-years of validity.

Spouse Work Permit

The spouse of a primary applicant who holds a valid work permit, including PGWP, is eligible to apply for a spouse work permit. The validity of the work permit will be identified to the primary applicant’s one.

Bridging Open Work Permit

This type of work permit is issued to work permit holders who have already applied for immigration and their work permit is about to expire while waiting. It is very important for international students who have already submitted an immigration application after their graduation work permit is about to expire.

Visitor Record Extension

When visitors (mainly accompanying parents, or minor children of international students) enter the country with a tourist visa, in most cases the departure date will be announced and be marked on the passport, which is generally calculated after the entry date 180 days. If the applicant wants to continue to live in Canada legally, or the applicant does not meet the conditions for the renewal of the study permit/work permit, then the applicant must apply for a visitor record extension.
